Yard Sale

This is honestly how I feel about most yard sales, but I know many people who are great at finding true treasure amid all the junk that people have horded in their basement or garage or children's rooms for who know how long. Good for those people. I'm not one of them.

Traitor Joes

Not a sponsor, but Trader Joe's Gummy Tummies are the most tasty and best gummy candies. I like them a lot and always try to have a bag for any road trips.
This comic was kind of inspired by my mental image of a black market, which I always thought was a physical market in some darker alley a few streets over from the farmer's market but set up the same way with everyone in their easily collapsible and highly mobile stalls and hawking their wares to shady people who are up to no good (who might have a bundle of fresh parsnips and kale from a few streets over tucked under their arm).

Can Not Get A Witness

This is related to the same song as mentioned in this earlier comic.
Text:
A: Can I get a witness?
B: Nope, fresh out. But we have a BOGO (buy one, get one free) on traitors!
A: Why would I want that?
B: *shrug* it's a BOGO?

Free Range Aquarium

So I'm not a huge fan of the beach and one of the many reasons is the critters, specifically jellyfish. I really dislike those floating blobs of pain that just ride the waves to wreck your day. Granted where I currently live there really aren't many, but where I grew up and where I went to school there were lots. Down at school they had the clear kind, which do the sneak attack because you don't see them coming. Apparently leatherback sea turtles eat absolute loads of jellyfish every day, so I am a big fan of leatherback sea turtles.

Sure Thing Babydoll

So this is close to a true story - my amazing husband and I went to Assateague and Chincoteague and between the two we stopped at a little diner for lunch and the waitress was very Southern and used the dialogue above but Mark did not respond wittily because he was just confounded with the greeting. Also I don't remember what he ordered but I got the shrimp and fries and they were good.

Gyro Worship

Here's a link to the passage. Yes, this is inspired by a sermon I heard at my church. The sermon is up on my church's SermonAudio, and this was not the main passage but he referenced it. I also was reminded of how to say gyro. Per the lyrics, gyro is pronounced "yeer-o" as in "No more fear-o, you’re a hero, cuz now I know it’s yeer-o!"
There's a lot of links in that paragraph, but so many things are referencing other things.

Haircut

My husband looked at this (I just gave him a haircut) and said "nope, that's not how that works." I kinda want to try this at a salon, but then you're messing with someone who can really make the next few weeks unbearable depending on what they do, so maybe don't try this.
This one time we were at an Orioles game and they have a player named Adam Jones and there was a little clip with a jingle "Adam Jones gives a fan a haircut" and he just buzzed a line across a guy's head and said "You got Jones'd" and it was memorable.

Intense Job

Some of my sister-in-laws are nurses and I'm sure they've never heard this one before. I am also sure someone else has most likely covered it in some way, but I wanted to put my own spin on it (especially after holding it in every time I ask my sis-in-law how her job is going). My sister found a cute comic with the pun "Peek-a-boo ICU" and it was a good one but it was just a picture and not a link so I don't know where it is now. Somewhere on Facebook, but where.

Name for the Order

Will someone be so bold as to try this?
We are reading through the Bible in a year and in Numbers and Deuteronomy they keep mentioning Og of Bashan. Wikipedia has quite a bit to say about him - including an anecdote about his bed. That seems very random to me, but it is interesting.

Motivational Oil

I thought of this while finally folding a load of laundry that had stayed in the basket for a few days. Folding laundry is loads of fun. It helps that I have a few favorite dinosaur t-shirts that I like to wear so I have to finish the laundry to get them back, but my dinosaur t-shirt collection is growing (I found this out when we had a week-long vacation and I was able to pack only dino shirts - it was awesome) so I have plenty to cycle through before running out.

Gaveling for Attention

They think they can just make rulings on matters in which they aren't involved! And they just excuse themselves from matters in which they are involved?
But it is true that if you call someone judgmental, then you yourself are being judgmental. I also realized I had misspelled judgmentally in the comic because I thought it had an extra 'e' as in judgementally but the wonders of spell check in this comment helped me out so I went back and edited the comic so no one would know. I think I did a pretty good job with it.

Humble Pie

We were talking about humility in Sunday morning and my teacher was saying how yielding to the Holy Spirit requires humility and I was truly trying to focus but sometimes I just think in comics and this happened. But it is a conundrum - how to complement someone's humility. I wonder what humble pie would taste like, would it be sweet or savory or am I thinking too much about this instead of absorbing the lesson on humility? Who knows.

Regression Tests

Regression tests are a good thing. They ensure backwards compatibility, so when we make new software features it ensures we didn't break any of the old things. But it is annoying to make the new wine fit into the old wineskins. But constantly changing the wineskins is also annoying. I think I've taken this metaphor too far. Any puzzle piece will fit if you try hard enough?
