Grinch Needs Love

 

My kiddo substitutes words he doesn't know (parables, Grinch) with words he does know (panda bears, crunch) to varying degrees of successful communication. He knows of the Grinch from an exercise show (Miss Linky) - I'm not sure when he'll actually watch the Grinch because I got nightmares from that for a while when I was a kid - that green hairy dude is frightening. But Ori likes to disagree so he nails the mannerisms of the Grinch here.

Eleven out of Ten

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life! Wow it's been a while. You're an eleven, unless that will cause issues then you're a ten. A ten plus. Oh no, the stack is overflowing with my love for you!

Explanation: In computer programing, if you try to access something that is not in the set (i.e. if your set is 1-10 and you try to reach 11), then you get an error because that does not compute. But when you're complementing someone, you can say they exceed the scale given and it's a good thing.

Price of Love

 

... But you really should cap how much money you pour into a vehicle. That's what I did, anyway, which led me to sell my beloved first car rather than get the transmission repaired. She just wouldn't start one morning and it was very sad. I had already been gently car perusing, so it wasn't a total shock and I had some options lined up fairly quickly. And I loved my second car!

I often struggle to come up with comics for holidays, but this one came to me out of the blue, like a bolt of lightning (from the sky not the sith kind). How would the Jedi handle static electricity? Would the younglings shuffle their feet across the carpet then cackle evilly while zapping their friends? I feel like I should write to Mr. Lucas (not my brother but actually he might have a solid opinion on this) and see what his take is.

Lovely Tennis Score

 

So I don't know much about tennis but I did hear (in a Valentine's quiz thing) that "love" is what you call it when your score is zero, something about the French word for "egg" sounds like "love" and eggs are round like a zero. At my college, PE was required for most majors and the most popular class was tennis - they had so very many session of it. I did not want to get sweaty so I did ice skating and broom hockey - both took place on the ice rink and were very fun and kept me cool in the Florida humidity.

Lovely Breakfast

 

For Valentine's, Cheerios made a bunch of their cereals in a mix of heart shaped and the regular circles. We got a double box from Costco of Honey Nut Cheerios so we will have lovely cereal for quite a while. It all tastes the same of course, it's just a happy little change to brighten the morning. My amazing husband, after this conversation, paid attention to his cereal and noted the loveliness.

Sometimes you just want to draw things literally - except the heart is the cartoony type because (a) this is a cartoon/comic and (b) anatomical hearts are difficult to draw and look weird. Actually drawing any internal organ is either difficult or ambiguous since most people don't know what internal organs look like. But if you play the game Organ Attack you could learn! Also the author of that game has a comic and is very good at drawing cute internal organs.

Charity

Happy Easter! He is risen indeed. I didn't think up an Easter comic this year. Since I'm safe at home, I'm not near other people to overhear their conversations and make hilarious comics about them, so I have to make due with references from TV shows and also my backlog of comics I haven't gotten around to writing up. But I am safe and healthy so that is good and I am grateful.

You know what they say - I Peter 4:8.
I looked at many Bible versions and none translate sins as law-breaking, but sin is breaking God's law so I think it still counts.
I could make a series on this, using the different fruits of the spirit that also happen to be names of people (Charity, Joy, Peace, Temperance, ...) but now I'm thinking I could just do a kids names comic on that because why are some traits used as names but not others? Kindness, get over here. Gratefulness, stop hitting your brother.

Valentine's Day Chocolate

Happy Valentine's Day! Take time to think of those you care about today, and call them or spend time with them if you can.
This is my take on a kinda famous quote (the famous one is anonymous I believe and has the chocolate and love switched). I do really like chocolate, specifically dark chocolate. But I love the love of my life more. But he gives me chocolate, so it's like a win-win.
I thought this up while eating a bar of minty chocolate at work - it's a vegan one so there's no dairy which is awesome for those of us who can't handle it.

Warm Fuzzy Feelings

Happy early anniversary to my friends Amber and Jeff! I thought this up right around a year ago. Their wedding was lovely and also a little nippy as it was the end of November but beautiful Fall weather (and nobody fell so that's always a good thing). I remember when my sister got married in October and my mom was worried about ice or snow but that was New England which is a bit colder than Maryland. Also that was a few years ago. Like 11.
