Classic Pairings

 enable images please

This is another one from my Pensacola trip a few months ago. My dad was trying to put together a trailer hitch, and I was distracting him.

Explanation: Washers are an appliance (often paired with dryers), and also a small disc used in assembling many things. Nuts are another item used in assembling things, and also a tasty snack (very different items - don't snack on the building part or use a snack for a building part).

L: The dryer, yes.
A: No, we add the nut.
L: I have an almond.

Cashew or Not

enable images!

WHAT it's my 11/12 birthday? Just putting that out there.
I thought this up when I was putting mixed nuts into the food processor to make "peanut butter" but since it's mixed nuts that's not quite the right name but it sounds better that way. I like making my own because it's surprising what all is in commercially available peanut butter when it really should just be peanuts and maybe salt.

Explanation: So "catch you" and "cashew" sound similar, and that's the word play here. Because the first speaker is a peanut, not a cashew, and wants to catch the second speaker, who claims to be faster and therefore uncatchable.

Peanut: Imma cashew!
Almond: No, you're a peanut and I'm faster.

Filberts vs Peanuts

enable images to see comic

I had a container of mixed nuts that I had used to make peanut butter (technically nut butter since it wasn't just peanuts) but then I made cookies that called for peanut butter so I used my home-made kind and since I was sending the cookies to a friend I wanted to list what all was in them and that's how I found out about filberts and thought up this comic. Also, making your own peanut butter is super easy - dump the nuts in a food processor and blend beyond what you think is necessary. That's all - no extra ingredients (can add salt if desired) and if you get a nice jar of nuts (i.e. a screw on lid) then you can use that jar to hold the nut butter. And you can use whatever nuts you want!

M: This mix has peanuts, walnuts, filberts, -
L: Isn't that a comic strip?
M: Filberts, not Dilbert.
L: I was referring to Peanuts :)
