New Phone Same Look

 

True Story. I needed a new phone because my old phone was crashing when I took photos and that's a major thing I do with my phone because I have small kids and they're cute. And it would corrupt the image I had tried to capture in the crash so that was further frustrating. So I went from a 6 to an 8 and was able to get the 8 to look like my 6. Yay!

Raindrops Keep Falling on My Phone

I wasn't sure which way was better so here's the bonus version:

Happy September! It's the most wonderful time of the year. So this comic was sparked when we were at the Fire House Food Truck Fridays (a wonderful local tradition) and we had one of the outside tables in beautiful weather but then a light summer storm rolled through.

DOTA2 Who Calls the DK

My husband plays DOTA2 and I usually crochet or blog (or scroll on my phone) next to him so I hear all the chatter. Dragon Knight is a good starter character so I've heard all his catchphrases many times. One such phrase is "Who calls the Dragon Knight?" and every time I think "this guy really needs better caller id." Will I do more of these "Day in the Life" comics for different characters? There's a strong possibility that I will but I don't have any more planned at the moment.

Missing Phone

I got this idea after setting down my phone at my in-laws and thinking, "hey it would be annoying if I left this here." On a related note, I saw something about the Star Wars prequels and thought, this comic totally could have been a conversation between Obi-Wan and Anakin in their early days.

How To Win

 DuoLingo is an app that helps you learn languages! I've learned basic Latin, a little German, and I'm working on Spanish. They are still adding new levels and languages so when you think you've conquered an area, you go back and realize they added special tenses or extra categories. So you can't win. You can just learn!

Faxing Phones

Happy almost Birthday to my Brother! (not the one in this comic)

We had a conversation about printing out emails and somehow it devolved into a discussion on fax machines and this interaction happened between my brother and mom. And I just went down a rabbit hole trying to find a good onomatopoeia for that sound and I'm pretty sure that xkcd had it in a mouse-over for a comic but I cannot find it. The closest I found is: urrrr EEEE urrr NNNGGGG CRRRRcrrrr KEEEEEEE grrr nnnnnng Ah, the sound of the 90's. Reminds me of playing games off a floppy disc.

Modern Horror Story

 I forget what spawned this comic, but I originally thought I'd come up with a series on it. Still working on the series. I don't recall my cell phone ever ringing - it has been on vibrate its whole life. I'm not overly fond of computers making any alert noises - I have my alarm set to a playlist I made on Spotify and everything else is just vibrate or silent. I vaguely remember my old phone saying "Hello Moto" unexpectedly and I did not like that. 

If this turns into a series, it would be called MHS and would be way better than AHS which if you don't know what that is, you are NOT missing anything. I wish I didn't know what it is but sadly Netflix had it in the opening spot for a while and I never wanted to see it. I'm not a fan of the horror genre.

Giggle Pickles

Welcome to August! Is it still super hot out there? Probably. 

You know you want to try this out at a phone store. I realize the Apple employees have blue shirts and that lanyard thing and not a visor but I have simple drawing skills and some things like lanyards don't look right on my stick figures so I improvised. 

Giggle Pickles is a reference to gigapixels, which is a measurement for high-resolution images, and phones have cameras which take photos, and that's the link. You want at least two barrels of them :)

Too Phony

After writing this I had to look up, is that actually how you spell phony? And indeed it is. Is it related to a phone? I don't believe so. I looked up the origin but all I got was 19th century of unknown origin. So maybe it's related to the phone - I cannot say either way. I don't recall what prompted this comic, probably I heard someone use the word 'phony' and I thought, what if you called a phone phony? That's usually how my trains of thought go. I did an old school phone like my parents had/have (not sure if they still have it) - it's corded but I didn't draw that and also it's a yellowish-ivory color. It's not actually a spin dial one, it just looks like it but you just push the buttons rather than spinning them around with the end of your cigarette holder like Cruella de Vil does in the animated 101 Dalmatians. And now I have to look up how to spell her name because that's not one I use very often.

Dead Phone

My phone decided to give up the ghost today (it bricked itself in church this morning). It saddens me :( Tech support confirmed that it is a goner - it won't even turn on (I could force it to the boot loader screen but when I cleared my data then it totally bricked itself). Good news is my new phone should be here tomorrow.
