Risk vs Reward vs Morals

 

Haha, this wouldn't happen. At least not too often, so that's good. Right?

Explanation: Usually things are low risk, low reward (i.e. give a dollar, receive a dollar or less) or high risk, high reward (give $1,000, receive $0 or $2,000). So if you have low risk, high reward (give $1, receive $0 or $2,000), that is a tempting combo (that could convince you to do something morally dubious).

Science Perfumes

Happy late birthday to my nephew and early anniversary to my sister and brother-in-law!

There's a joke about the opposite of formaldehyde being casualdejekyll, which a friend of mine said sounds like perfume names, and here we are. 

Explanation: Formaldehyde is a compound that I thought was used to preserve the specimens in high school biology dissection labs, but after reading the wiki pages I'm not seeing that use so *shrug* it's a compound with many uses. The joke is if you break up the name you see the words "formal" and "Hyde", and the opposites of those are "casual" and "Jekyll". 

Food Color Transfer

 

I made a bunch of meals to throw in the freezer a week or two before Lucy's due date (or rather harvest date because she was a C-section) and I am very grateful I had the forethought to do that because yeah, fussy baby makes meal prep difficult. This comic was inspired by those meals, which include all sorts of meat and veggies because I was trying to have a nice assortment so there's beef, chicken, and seafood. I got the recipes from a QR code in a Better Homes & Gardens magazine which led to a list of like forty make-ahead meals. I would post the link but I can't find it anymore - I have a list of the recipes that I chose from the article but that'd be tedious to post here. So just know there are many meals you can make ahead and freeze (in portion sizes so for us it's just two and that defrosts fairly quickly). 

Speaking of freezers, tomorrow is FRIDGE DAY!!! The annual reminder of that time my mom's fridge was delivered and there was chaos.

Physical

I took all math for my math/science electives in college, so I don't know much about physics, but I don't think that's how it works. But we are physical, so maybe...
My college changed the Software Engineering requirements after I graduated and made the electives just science so I guess I was using a loophole to avoid all science classes in college (I didn't take a single one). Science is great and all but I don't overly enjoy it (I did enjoy parts of it, and I had a great teacher in high school who made it interesting).

Reverse Evolution

Is entropy the same thing as devolution? Is devolution a real thing? It isn't getting underlined with red squiggles so I think it must be. I think they are separate things since they have different names. Surprisingly, someone else has ridden this train of thought and came up with: Devolution—meaning the decentralization of power—is the geopolitical equivalent of the second law of thermodynamics: inexorable, universal entropy.
I haven't read the article fully so I don't know if I agree with the author's point about government, but I do find it interesting that he has the perfect phrase for my ramble.
