Hard vs Soft Tasks

 enable images please

This was written in reference to getting my preschooler changed into her swimsuit. I'm trying to get her to do more tasks that she can do, but it's a struggle because it's hard for her and much quicker for me. But this is how we grow? Wet swimsuits are a struggle at any age.

Explanation: Hard and soft are opposites. We describe difficult situations as hard, but we don't usually describe easy situations as soft.

Text:
R: You do it.
L: Why?? It's hard.
R: I only do things that are soft.

Bad Idea: Swimwear

 enable images please

I came up with this at a waterpark. Got to get all the summer comics out before summer ends and we can get to the best season (autumn)! I thought to turn this comic into a Shark Tank type one, but I ended up not quite figuring that out and just drew it in the straight conversation style.

A: You know what's a bad idea? A -
B: Insecure swimwear.
A: *horrified noise*

Hair Compressor

 enable images please

My preschooler has completed her first swim lessons and she loved it! The class recommended swim caps and goggles, and I tried just goggles but wow her hair just wrapped around those and it was not excellent. But a swim cap gets all that hair out of the way (one might even say, compresses it away), and the goggles are atop it not getting wrapped in curls. My toddler thought he wanted to try on a swim cap, but panicked once it was on because it was "so tight" and then I had to chase him to get it off as he cried to get it off. Fun times.

M: Do we need an air compressor?
L: Like a swim cap?
M: ... what?
L: Hair compressor.

Pomegranate Pool

 enable images!

I heard this fact and thought this thing. The tip is intending you to just put the pomegranate in like a bowl of water, submerged while you break it apart. Then the fruit juices don't squirt all over the place, leaving red streaks across your cabinets and ceilings and such. Fun times cleaning all that up. But I guess opening the fruit in a pool would qualify, it would just leave a red streaky mess in the pool and yeah that might be worse.

Text:
A: I like pomegranates, but opening them up makes such a mess.
B: Oh, you can break them open under water to limit the juice spray!
A: So like, in the pool?

Forest World Problems: Swan

Swan isn't very good at diving

It's been a while since I revisited this series, but to finish out this bird-filled week we're looping back to Forest World Problems. Do swans live in forests? Well, they live on water and there is water in forests so sure. I'm pretty sure the Swan Princess was set in a forest, where she was hidden away after getting stolen and cursed. I don't actually remember the whole plot of that movie. I do recall the animal sidekicks because they were great. There was a puffin, a turtle, and a frog.

Lap Pool

Haha, dogs lap the water...
So in college I had an international roommate and I asked her if she wanted to go run laps with me and she was all confused when she looked up what 'lap' meant because she only had two definitions - 'the dog laps the water' and 'the baby sat on her lap'. I rephrased the question as 'do you want to run in circles outside' and she declined.
