Tumble Those Leaves

 

There is an excellent show on Amazon Prime called Tumble Leaf. It's whimsical and gets kids to think things through, often in an amusing way. And I like the claymation style that they use - it's very non-stimulating. 

Explanation: In the show "Tumble Leaf," the main character (Fig, the blue fox) often says (when puzzling over an issue then finding a solution), "Turkey shout! I figured it out!" 

Second Explanation: I think I'm holding a cup of juice in this comic, but honestly I don't know why I drew it like that. And that reminds me that I was going to drink some 100% grape juice this evening because everyone is getting sick in this coldness.

Fade to Black

 

And cut! Gotta get all spiffy for the holidays.

Explanation: A "fade" is a hairstyle for men. "Fade to black" is a cinematic idiom (often at the end of a scene) where the lighting fades all the way to dark.

TDM: Nailed It

Explanation: The show "Nailed It!" is a baking show where people try to make masterpieces and usually fail horribly/hilariously. When you hit a pothole full speed, your copilot is obligated to say "nailed it!"

Bluey Card

 

The show "Bluey" is a pretty good kids show, with competent parents and good lessons learned and each episode is like 7 minutes so you aren't locked in for half an hour or whatever. Robin really likes the show and she doesn't understand that "bingo" is more than just a cartoon dog's name. Also she says "watch" when she wants to watch a show. 

Explanation: On the children's show "Bluey" there are the main characters Bluey and her sister Bingo. The phrase "that's not on my bingo card" means that something unexpected and/or surprising has happened. I'm not sure what would be on your Bluey Card - maybe "silly games" since they do those nearly every episode.

Stranger Things

 

My man is up to date on that show now so we are catching up on some other Netflix ones that we like, such as Blown Away and Forged in Fire. That's on nights when we aren't gaming, reading, or working on blogs or websites. I can crochet while watching some shows provided I don't need to look at the screen the whole time and it's a pattern that I know.

North & South

 On the recent family vacation, there was a desire by some to watch North & South. I crocheted from another room and tried to not make comments because it's really not my type of show (I'm not a fan of period dramas, or really any dramas). I did watch a little bit because I recognized the voice of the main actor (he was Thorin Oakenshield from The Hobbit) but not enough to follow all the misunderstandings that were being had. Because dramas always have loads of misunderstandings and that's frustrating. But if that's your cup of tea, go for it. I get that many people like things that I don't like, and also that I like things that others don't like, but we can all enjoy the enjoyment people get when they get what they like. That is a rather complicated sentence to say don't rain on someone's parade just because it's not your favorite one - let them enjoy their parade.

Coming Soon

 

Wondering what verse that is? Here it is! Wondering what show this is? It's The Chosen! I watched the first season before our baby arrived and then watched it again with my husband afterwards. We are now watching the second season and I like it a lot! I should write a full review on my other blog since that's where I put my movie reviews (don't think I've done a TV show review yet but why not start now!) but I can do a small review here. 

So first things first, there is no episode named "Coming Soon" - that's the filler title they use because they list how many episodes a season has but they drop the new one on a weekly basis. This is a show about the life of Christ told through His interactions with His disciples and those who closely followed Him. The site says "See Jesus through the eyes of those that met Him" and that's a great synopsis. They are planning on seven seasons which means yes, they are adding a lot of details that are not given in the Biblical account. If you want a show that just says what's in the Bible, then maybe just read the Bible? The added details and stories are Biblically, historically, and culturally sound so maybe think of the show as Historical Fiction rather than a straight retelling of the Biblical narrative. I like the show and recommend watching it, but more importantly know what's in the Bible. Maybe watching the show can help you when you read the Bible to 'see' the characters and how they could have interacted with each other. I think it's similar to a Sight &Sound production but different in that television vs theater way (i.e. they have a lot more time to give details).

Sequel to Saved by the Bell

 I thought this up before the sequel/reboot was announced and I think my title is better. Actually I just looked this up and I realize I had "Saved by the Bell" and "Boy Meets World" confused but apparently both are getting revivals/spinoffs (also I haven't watched either of the originals or follow-ons). And having the follow-on show called a "revival" is actually perfect for this comic. I kinda want to rework the comic to work it in, but nope just gonna post as-is.
As for the puns, as a Baptist you get baptized (full immersion) after you profess Christ (salvation/saved) and also revivals are a thing that were really popular in my childhood.

Harley Quinn, Medicine Woman

I was at my in-laws and they were trying to think of the name of that old western TV show about the doctor and it was incorrectly stated and that inspired this comic. The comic book character is actually a doctor, a psychologist I believe, but she turned to a life of crime rather than using her doctoral talent. And the star of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman, was Jane Seymour who is an interesting person - she designed the "Open Heart Collection" for Kay Jewelers, has starred in a lot of things, has heterochromia (her eyes are different colors), and her birth name is Joyce Penelope Wilhelmina Frankenberg.
