Unexpected Red Rover

 enable images please
Happy 17 years to my husband! 💕
I don't recall the name the song as it was on a service-generated playlist, but I have not forgotten the song. Also thinking of "running into <someone's> arms" as Red Rover is quite context-changing.

Explanation: Red Rover was a (terrible) game from my childhood where one team would link hands and call over a player from the other team, who would run at you full force and try to break through the line.

Text:
Song: Come on and run into my arms
L: That's called clotheslining.
M: Unexpected Red Rover.

Overcooked Kitchen

 enable images please

So my spouse and I just finished playing Overcooked 2 and it was a journey. It was rather frustrating at times but overall very fun to play. You do need to be on the same wavelength and cooperate smoothly to get through it all. And there are a lot of bonus levels! The graphics are cute and the music is nice.

Explanation: in the game "Overcooked 2" (and also the original "Overcooked!"), you are set in a kitchen and have a bunch of orders to cook and fulfill. However, the kitchen is working against you in your endeavors. It's not how you would want a kitchen to be. But you do have specific tools on any given level, like a rotisserie cooker or massive wok, to cook the ingredients so you can assemble the final product. There are many points of failure, which do complicate things.

Text:
M: We could get a rotisserie cooker for our kitchen.
L: And then! Sliding counters that move on an unknown timer! Conveyer belts that end in a trash can! Cutting boards totally unreachable from where you get ingredients!
M: No more "Overcooked!" for you!

Food Options

 enable images please

If you've ever questioned "why can't my partner just read my mind and know what I want?" then I have a solution for you: it's called verbal communication. Say what you need to say. One of the best pieces of marriage advice that I was given so many years ago was to keep the lines of communication constantly open. Don't say what you don't mean, and don't hide what you want known. For example, if you really would like an item for an upcoming gift giving occasion, send the exact link to your spouse with the title "potential gift" or something very clear like that. Don't just hope that they somehow know such an item exists and is desired.

Text:
M: So, to which place would you like to go?
L: I'm fine with either as long as you pick the one I want.

Peppermint Deterrent

 enable images please

Apparently you can use peppermint as a pest deterrent in your attic and pantry and such. Or maybe you can use it to discover the truth about people? Results may vary.

Also, this logic is reminding me of the Monkey Silly Song from Veggie Tales.

Text:
L: Both mice and spiders don't like peppermint.
M: Good to know.
L: ... You don't like peppermint.
M: ... Oh no, you found me out?

A Lot For Christmas

 enable images please

Hey, I have a sketch for this one! Is that a church bulletin? I will neither confirm nor deny.

Text:
M: I don't want a lot for Christmas -
W: Then you don't want me because I've been told that I'm a lot.

Stuff the Duvet

And a bonus version:

Stuffing a duvet into the duvet cover is an act of love. Unless you do it wrong, then it's an act of annoyance. There are many tips and tricks with how to get it all in there flatly, but I wish you the best of luck if you need to tackle the task.

Explanation: During the summer, a duvet cover can be used on your bed without any filling. It's like a top sheet or thin comforter in that state. But as the weather gets colder, you need more warmth and can fill the duvet cover with a duvet of your preferred thickness.

Text:
L: Speaking of laundry, if the duvet cover isn't warm enough for you - you can stuff it.
Bonus:
M: I feel targeted. I guess I could do that.
L: If you want it done right, I can do it.

Parking Garage Meal

 enable images please

True Story - it was a stegosaurus.

To be clear, we did not eat random food off the floor of a public garage. We do have standards. We also threw out the leftovers we forgot in the car overnight, because we care about our intestines and don't want to cause duress.

Text:
Title: *Walking Through a Parking Garage*
L: ... Would you like a dino nugget?
M: With a side of that mac'n'cheese we left in the car overnight.
R: What obligation are you so desperate to get out of?!?!

All I Want for Christmas is...

 enable images please

Merry Christmas Eve!
How dare someone not cue in to the lyrics you're quoting. But a Merry Christmas can still be had! By sharing your heart or something like that? Don't give it away the next day though - that's rude.

Explanation: Maria Carey sings "All I Want for Christmas is You" and the lyrics start out "I don't want a lot for Christmas, there is just one thing I need" then resolves with the title so that's what I was going for here. (By him saying "nothing comes to mind" he's implying that he doesn't want her.)

Text:
L: Do you want a lot for Christmas?
M: No.
L: Aw, is there just one thing you need? 💗
M: Nothing comes to mind.

Thing We Don't Need

 enable images please

What's this, a special Black Friday comic???

Text:
L: Do we need one? *holding a thing we don't need*
M: Nope.
L: ... you're right, we need at least two.

Complete Games

 enable images please
Some games have completion paths (like Legend of Zelda - go defeat Ganon and that's the endgame). Other games are melee based where you select a character and the teams face off against each other (like DOTA2 or Smash Bros) and you can play as many matches as you want but there isn't a big bad that you are defeating - you're more learning the characters and how to best face off against other characters while fighting little battles. Still other games are more open world where you can build stuff and again there isn't an end goal of victory, it's more engineering (I believe Valheim and Minecraft are examples of this). So if you're playing games in the latter categories, there isn't a completion. So I guess one of those is the only game you'll need.

Text;
L: You shouldn't buy a new game until you complete the ones you already have.
M: WHAT.
L: Go finish DOTA2 and Valheim.

Desserting

 enable images please

How sweet?

Explanation: "Dessert" is a sweet treat after a meal. "Desert" (as a verb) means to abandon.

Text:
A: He desserted me!
L: I can tell, by the sprinkles.

Carousel Communication

 enable images please

Did you know that some antique stores have carousel horses for sale? Sometimes they aren't full-sized, more like 3/4-sized, but some have full-sized ones. Sometimes they have the original paint job, while others have been painted one solid color, to make them seem more like a classic statue. And yes, the horse has the pole in the middle just like on the carousel so it's on a stand like that. I don't think it's a good addition to a household with small children but maybe someday. Until then, maybe a music-box-sized one will do. Why would I want a carousel horse? It could be because my grandmother has a few in her house. It's certainly not because I wanted to write carousel so many times - I think I know how to spell it by now.

Text:
L: A carousel horse would fit nicely in our house.
M: We don't have a carousel horse. We aren't getting a carousel horse.
L: Maybe in the front room, or behind the couch.

Mad Method

 enable images please

Sometimes people just don't see things the same way as you. Specifically the way you sort things. The phrase I'm playing on is "the method to one's madness" which means that there is often a reason behind someone's mysterious behavior. But often does not mean always. And sometimes someone's method is just madness.

Text:
L: There's a method!
M: But it's madness!

Fairness

enable images please

Speak truthfully but maybe not that truthfully. I don't recall what prompted this conversation but I think my reply derailed it.
WHAT this is the last comic before the best month???? Yay September!

Text:
M: Well, to be fair -
L: Why would we be fair?

Trophy Husband

 enable images please

Guys this is a real mug (that I did not purchase) from Hobby Lobby and the description is: "Make sure your husband knows he makes you feel like a winner! Trophy Husband Mug is a classically shaped, blue ceramic mug with the phrase "Trophy Husband" in white lettering on the front. Gift it to him and give him a wink when he drinks from it in the morning!"

Text:
A: Why do you have a "Trophy Husband" mug??
B: My wife says I win all the awards at work.

Eleven out of Ten

enable images please

Happy Anniversary to the love of my life! Wow it's been a while. You're an eleven, unless that will cause issues then you're a ten. A ten plus. Oh no, the stack is overflowing with my love for you!

Explanation: In computer programing, if you try to access something that is not in the set (i.e. if your set is 1-10 and you try to reach 11), then you get an error because that does not compute. But when you're complementing someone, you can say they exceed the scale given and it's a good thing.

Text:
R: On a scale of one to ten, you're an eleven 💗💗
J: Out of bounds error?

Marry Me Please

enable images please

Bonus: "Won't you marry me?" "Correct." And they both think they're on the same page but they aren't. He thinks she's letting him keep the ring for safe-keeping...

Text:
B: Can you marry me?
G: Yes.
B: Should you marry me?
G: Doubtful.
B: May you marry me?
G: Unclear?
B: Must you marry me?
G: Rude.

Food Leaf Blower

Happy Birthday Eve to my Mark! He's the best.

So I can't find the link for a food leaf blower, but this item is close. I can't find one for food but there are several on Amazon for keyboards and similar, so they're USB powered and meant to clean off your desk dirt. But I think that would work for food too if you have a converter to charge it near your kid's food. Or you just bring your computer over to the food area and plug it in like that.

Text:
L: *scrolling on phone* Does Robin need a little leaf blower for her food?
M: *holding a pizza slice* I think I just burned my tongue.
L: Do you need a little leaf blower for your food?

Speaking My Language

 enable images please

So there was an article I read that I will probably never find again but it mentioned that families have a dialect and when someone is angry then they use standard language and not the dialect and that's how you know. This means that your family isn't weird, you just have a really strong dialect! That's my own conclusion. I think my family's dialect involves using forced loan words from a number of European languages.

Explanation: The translation with the (language) : I need (Spanish) cheese (French). No (German). The insider knowledge is that my husband likes cheese but I am lactose intolerant.

Text:
M: ¡Necesito fromage!
L: Nein.

Love and Star Wars

 enable images please

I often struggle to come up with comics for holidays, but this one came to me out of the blue, like a bolt of lightning (from the sky not the sith kind). How would the Jedi handle static electricity? Would the younglings shuffle their feet across the carpet then cackle evilly while zapping their friends? I feel like I should write to Mr. Lucas (not my brother but actually he might have a solid opinion on this) and see what his take is.

Text:
LS: Leia, she touched my hand and sparks flew 💗
LO: Luke, that means she's a sith! That's Force Lightning!
