Yesterday's Pets

Pet stores are like the free zoo for kiddos. There was a pet store (Today's Pets) in a shopping strip near me where we would browse before getting groceries. It is now a sushi place and I just think that's ironic, since the pet store had a long wall covered in fish tanks. I wonder if they were able to repurpose any of the things from the previous occupants. I have not visited despite my curiosity and my desire to eat sushi.

Text:
R: Can we go to the pet store?
L: That's not a pet store anymore. It's now ... oh, it's a sushi place. Hmmm.

Shopping on Target

 enable images please!

The joys of parenting in the potty training phase. No, this is not a true story - I would not do that to my daughter (and really it would be to myself as the one who would be on cleanup). The true part of the story is where my son sees things in the store and calls out their names so I say "we have that at home" and move on. He now says it back to me (while laughing) when I mention what's on the list and I have to say, "no, we don't have it at home and that is why we're at the story, my dude."

Text:
L: We are only going to get what we need as we shop.
O: Goldfish!
L: No, we have Goldfish at home.
R: Potty!!!
L: We have potties at home!

Department Store Names

enable images!

Back in the day, the slogan for J.C. Penny was "We love your style!" I have not been in a department store in a very long time. I have not done much shopping other than just Target/groceries/Hobby Lobby in a while either, so those two go hand in hand. I feel like there's been a big shift away from department stores, but I do like being able to handle, feel, see, etc. the item before buying it, which is a big selling point for physical stores over online.

Text:
A: These are my kids - Penny, Macy, and Talbot.
B: ... I love your style.

Traitor Joes

Not a sponsor, but Trader Joe's Gummy Tummies are the most tasty and best gummy candies. I like them a lot and always try to have a bag for any road trips.
This comic was kind of inspired by my mental image of a black market, which I always thought was a physical market in some darker alley a few streets over from the farmer's market but set up the same way with everyone in their easily collapsible and highly mobile stalls and hawking their wares to shady people who are up to no good (who might have a bundle of fresh parsnips and kale from a few streets over tucked under their arm).

Can Not Get A Witness

This is related to the same song as mentioned in this earlier comic.
Text:
A: Can I get a witness?
B: Nope, fresh out. But we have a BOGO (buy one, get one free) on traitors!
A: Why would I want that?
B: *shrug* it's a BOGO?

Don't Count Your Eggs Before They Hatch

There's nothing like the feeling of opening your fridge to find some newly hatched chicks.... I'm cool with never having that feeling. Want the origin of that phrase?

In case you're wondering what it looks like when water accidentally gets on my comics:
So I was thirsty... then sad. Thankfully only one comic was splashed, and it had already been scanned in.
