Text:
R: See you later, milk cow! Take a bow, milk cow! Out the door, milk cow! Wave goodbye, milk cow!
L: The alligator, dinosaur, and butterfly feel left out, my girl.

Unexpected Red Rover
I don't recall the name the song as it was on a service-generated playlist, but I have not forgotten the song. Also thinking of "running into <someone's> arms" as Red Rover is quite context-changing.
Explanation: Red Rover was a (terrible) game from my childhood where one team would link hands and call over a player from the other team, who would run at you full force and try to break through the line.
Text:
Song: Come on and run into my arms
L: That's called clotheslining.
M: Unexpected Red Rover.

Silly Donkey Song
Happy early Birthday to my niece! I am blessed with many nieces and nephews, and tomorrow concludes this one's first trip around the sun.
Oh, the many translations/connections you make when you're a parent. We went to the Disney On Ice Encanto/Frozen show earlier this year, and for the song "Surface Pressure" Luisa sang/skated about with a crew of backup dancers/skaters who were dressed as donkeys. My kids thought it was hilarious. They giggle every time the song plays because they're thinking of the ridiculous donkey skaters ("they should be on all fours, like Sven, not on two legs!") ((Sven was played by two skaters in a shared reindeer costume whereas the donkeys were all individual skaters)). I'm pretty sure most people don't think of "Surface Pressure" as a silly donkey song.
Side-note, did you know that Luisa is the middle child??? I totally thought she was the oldest. Isabella (must be said with all the disgust Mirabel can muster) is the oldest, while Mirabel is clearly the youngest. You learn something new every time you google a random thing to spell-check your comics. (I couldn't remember if her name was Louisa or Luisa).

R&O: Silly Donkey Song!!!
L: Uhhhh *remembers Disney on Ice Encanto* right, "Surface Pressure."

Wonka and Goliath
A continuation from Tuesday, about the giraffe milk macaroon. Maybe Goliath was an early tester (think of the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movie and what happened to the kids). Instead of just feeling ten feet tall, he actually became ten feet tall.
Title: 1 Samuel 17
D: Wait a minute - did you give these to Goliath?!?
W: He put his hand into his pockolate and got himself some WONKA CHOCOLATE.

Wonka and David
A new twist on the classic David and Goliath? Enter one giraffe milk macaroon. (But what if Goliath ate one? Find out on Thursday.)
Once again, this is from the song "You've Never Had Chocolate Like This" in the movie Wonka (which does not contain any Bible character cameos - I was just thinking these up as I listened to the movie soundtrack on my way to Hershey Park for a fun Saturday).
Text:
Title: 1 Samuel 17
W: π΅ Goodbye to feeling small And frightened of it all Just eat a few of these and you'll be feeling ten feet tall. π΅
D: I'm... just gonna trust God to use me and my sling stones.

Wonka and Elisha
The movie Wonka has many catchy songs, and "You've Never Had Chocolate Like This" is no exception. I could not help but think of a certain Bible character who called down two she-bears when taunted by a group of youths mocking the fact that he was bald.
Text:
Title: 2 Kings 2
W: π΅Lost your hair, Can't think where, feeling fairly bare up there...π΅
E: You... are getting all the mama bears.

Alphabet Aggressive
Someday he'll get it right, but for now it's cute and hilarious.
Explanation: the actual song ends with "Now I know my a-b-c's, next time won't you sing with me?" rather than my kiddo's "next time you will sing with me."
Text:

Alphabet Abbreviated
This is now how my toddler sings the alphabet song every time. My preschooler has tried getting him to "repeat after me" and go through the alphabet, but she doesn't have it down well enough for that. But they got further than the first phrase, so there's that. And got back on track when I prompted them. Also, he will sing it up to a letter that appears in his name, then just sing out how to spell his name instead (as in l-m-n-o-r-i-o-l-e). His actual name has five letters, which means it can be sung in the b-i-n-g-o song, which means the alphabet song transitions seamlessly into Bingo.

Grayson Truth
My kiddo has a gray dinosaur named Grayson. Answers in Genesis has some great Bible verse songs. Misunderstandings can happen.
Explanation: As I point out in the comic, "Grayson" and "grace and" sound rather similar.
Text:
Title: John 1:14
Song: We have seen His glory - full of grace and truth
R: That's my dinosaur's name!
L: Grace. And. Truth. Not Grayson truth.

Trinity Question
So we listen to the catechisms sung on "Ask Me Whoooo" which is an excellent set of albums available on Spotify, YoutTubeMusic, and other places surely, including in disc form. My youngest only knows the first few, and is hindering himself in learning more.
Text:
Music: In how many persons does this one God exist? In three Persons.
O: I don't know this one (spoken over the answer portion)
L: Buddy.

To You And Your King
I don't know if I can relearn the lyrics after miss-hearing them for several decades. (The actual lyrics are "to you and your kin" not "king.") This is like my other comic about "Up on the housetop reindeer paws."
Tasting History with Max Miller is an excellent YouTube show (and super calm) where he makes old recipes, and he has one for figgy pudding which is apparently Christmas pudding and yep I don't think I'll ever make that.
Text:
L: I thought that "We Wish You a Merry Christmas" was sung at the manger because "Good tidings we bring to you and your King."
M: ... we bring you gold, figgy pudding, and myrrh.

A Lot For Christmas
Hey, I have a sketch for this one! Is that a church bulletin? I will neither confirm nor deny.
Text:
M: I don't want a lot for Christmas -
W: Then you don't want me because I've been told that I'm a lot.

What Else Did God Make
We have been teaching our kids the First Catechisms (there's 150 in there and while I disagree with 133/134, the rest are sound theology and also we have only tackled the first like 10). There are songs to go along with them - Ask Me Whooo. I've only heard the first two albums (available on Spotify and YouTubeMusic) so like the first 100 catechisms set to song and they are a catchy way to learn some sound theology. Provided your kid actually sings along instead of making his own version and overpowering the chorus. Yes, God did indeed make the trees and flowers but ALSO so much more - all things, to be exact.
First Catechism: https://opc.org/cce/FirstCatechism.html
Song and Mom: What else did God make? Whaaat else did God make?
Song and daughter: God made all things, all things, all things! God made all things, aaaaaall thiiiiings.
Son over song: Trees and flowers!

Kid Song Remix
Why not do a song mashup, but I do need them to know that they are doing a song mashup and that's not the way either song actually goes and also it's a weasel not a monkey that pops. Why? I don't know. It's just the way the ancient song goes.
Text:
R&O: Ring around the rosie, Pop goes the monkey, Ashes, ashes, we all fall down.
L: Wait a minute...

Old MacDonald Part 1
A new twist on a classic song? Or a plot that is thickening?
Explanation: if you have a farm with nothing on it, anywhere, what are you doing with a farm? Clearly you are hiding what you're doing, and it might not be farm related. The song should go "on that farm he had a sheep (or whatever animal)" and then the animal noise in duplicate "with a baa baa here and a baa baa there."
Text:
R: Old MacDonald had a farm... on that farm he had NOTHING! Nothing nothing here, nothing nothing there!
L: ... Is Old MacDonald getting investigated by the FDA?

Take It All Back
The song being quoted is "Take It All Back" sung by Tauren Wells, We the Kingdom, and Davies. This song was going through my head as we had to Spring Ahead yet again. Can the time changing please end.
A: You want to end DST?
B: πTaking back what the enemy stoleπ

L: Do you want a lot for Christmas?
M: No.
L: Aw, is there just one thing you need? π
M: Nothing comes to mind.

Turkey and Mistletoe
As I wrote this, I was thinking of the t-shirt I saw somewhere that postulated "Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting." Anyways, pausing this song right hear changes the meaning quite a bit (the full phrase is "Everybody knows a turkey and some mistletoe helps to make the season bright").
Text:
A: Surely not everybody knows a turkey, and mistletoe too!
B: You'd be surprised...

Veggie Tales Father Abraham
Happy Father's Day! Especially to my Dad, who is the best dad. And to my husband, who is the best dad to our kiddos!
For those who don't know, VeggieTales is a cartoon featuring fruits and veggies (Larry the Cucumber, Pa Grape, etc.) and they don't have arms or legs - they just hop around and if they need to hold something it just floats. Also for those who don't know, the song "Father Abraham" is a wiggle-releaser sung in children's ministries and involves moving your arms and legs. And thirdly, I have a Sunday School playlist for my kids on Spotify and there is a version of "Father Abraham" sung by the Veggie Tales characters and it confuses me.
Text:
L: That makes about as much sense as the VeggieTales singing "Father Abraham."
A: *confused squint*
