Bear Trees

 enable images please
Or should it be:
enable images please
But perhaps:
enable images please

I could not decide which version I liked best so here are three of them. When drawing these, I was reminded of an old commercial for Discover Card where there's a guy with loads of frogs in his house asking about frog protection and the agent over the phone is like, yeah we have fraud protection.

Explanation: "Bare" means empty, like a tree in winter. "Bear" is an animal. Both words sound the same, hence the confusion in this set of comics.

Text:
Patron: I commissioned a landscape painting of bare trees - what is this?!?
Artist: These are bear trees - see them peeking through the leaves?
OR
Artist: There is at least one bear in every tree - what more could you want?!
OR
Artist: "Bear Trees" features several varieties - this tree has a koala while this one has a grizzly.

Veggie Tales Father Abraham

enable images please

Happy Father's Day! Especially to my Dad, who is the best dad. And to my husband, who is the best dad to our kiddos!

For those who don't know, VeggieTales is a cartoon featuring fruits and veggies (Larry the Cucumber, Pa Grape, etc.) and they don't have arms or legs - they just hop around and if they need to hold something it just floats. Also for those who don't know, the song "Father Abraham" is a wiggle-releaser sung in children's ministries and involves moving your arms and legs. And thirdly, I have a Sunday School playlist for my kids on Spotify and there is a version of "Father Abraham" sung by the Veggie Tales characters and it confuses me.

Text:
L: That makes about as much sense as the VeggieTales singing "Father Abraham."
A: *confused squint*

Multitude of North Stars

enable images!

Another comic on the meeting theme! So the North Star is aptly named because it can be used as a guide to head whichever direction since finding it shows you which way is north. If you have several North Stars, you are in confusion. Unless maybe they are used like Orion's Belt? Not sure what that belt is used for, but it's easy to find in the sky. I remember learning the constellations in elementary school and thinking what the heck were these ancient people seeing? How is the lopsided 'W' a queen of unrivaled beauty? But learning about the sky is kinda cool - to be able to navigate is helpful too. Going to a Dark Sky location is totally worth it to see the multitudes of stars - I went to one out West and it was amazing!

Text:
A: So in this meeting, we will discuss these three topics - let's think of them as three North Stars.
B: We are so lost.
C: *confused*

Ambiguous Cartoon Critter

Here's a picture of the cartoon creature in question - the model is clearly concerned over what it is.

After polling many people, we had suggestions of mouse, cow, sheep, bear, dinosaur, puppy, lamb, and koala. I was thinking it's a mouse but upon seeing all the suggestions, leaning towards a polar bear. The critter is repeated on the feet of the sleeper but looks roughly the same there so no help from multiple angles. But it's still a cute outfit, even if we don't know what's on it.

Text:
M: Is that a mouse on her sleeper? Or a ... cow?
L: It's a cute little ambiguous cartoon critter.
