Star Wars Parentage

 

I thought this one up after a message on families (specifically generational faith) - here's the original sketch! You can see how the comic changed slightly when I redrew it digitally.

Veggie Tales Father Abraham

Happy Father's Day! Especially to my Dad, who is the best dad. And to my husband, who is the best dad to our kiddos! 

For those who don't know, VeggieTales is a cartoon featuring fruits and veggies (Larry the Cucumber, Pa Grape, etc.) and they don't have arms or legs - they just hop around and if they need to hold something it just floats. Also for those who don't know, the song "Father Abraham" is a wiggle-releaser sung in children's ministries and involves moving your arms and legs. And thirdly, I have a Sunday School playlist for my kids on Spotify and there is a version of "Father Abraham" sung by the Veggie Tales characters and it confuses me.

Pride and Joy

 

Happy Father's Day to all fathers, especially my father, my father-in-law, my grandfather, and my husband! I am very blessed by the strong fathers in my family. Can't forget my brother-in-laws! They are excellent uncles to my kiddos. Someday my brothers could be fathers and that's just a weird concept for me to grasp because in my mind they are the little kiddos that saw me off to college - I kinda struggle to see them as adults but that's what they are now. No more thinking about that! Reach out to the excellent fathers in your life and tell them that they are excellent! 

Explanation: A group of lions is called a pride. A common phrase when talking about your beloved children is "my pride and joy."

Happy Father's Day

Happy belated Father's Day!
So when we were kids, there were massive barn spiders in the house. They were horrifyingly big, and we would get my dad to kill them. At the time, it was just me and my sisters and my parents, so my Dad was the only man in the house; we had to stop using 'man-eating' as a descriptor for the huge spiders because 'you girls and your Mom are all safe then!'
How big were the spiders? Well, this one time we trapped a spider under a cup to await my Dad getting home from work so he could kill it, and the spider MOVED THE CUP and we put a dictionary on top of the cup so it wouldn't scoot away.
