Dispense with the Water and Pleasantries

Dispense those pleasantries. So I thought this was just a common phrase, but upon a quick Google search it seems to be a quote from Star Wars?

Jerjerrod: Lord Vader, this is an unexpected pleasure. We're honored by your presence.

Vader: You may dispense with the pleasantries, commander. I'm here to put you back on schedule.

—Return of the Jedi

So I learned something new today.

Explanation: Water often comes from a dispenser, which means water can be dispensed. Darth Vader's quote about pleasantries references dispensing with them. I combined the two.

Text:
L: Your water, much like the pleasantries, has been dispensed.
M: ?

Absolutely a Sith

 enable images please
I wasn't sure which version I liked better, so here's both.
enable images please!!
Happy Birthday to my most amazing, my one and only, my husband of almost two decades.

Happy May the Third! The day before May the Fourth. It's a Star Wars thing. Much like how this comic is a Star Wars thing. The Jedi are absolutely sure that only the Sith deal in absolutes. But for real, my preschooler is giving out way too many ultimatums, it's like a mattress store that is constantly having close-out everything-must-go sales.

Side-note - we will be back to our regularly scheduled Abraham&Lot comics next week. Or actually the week after since next week is Mother's Day and I have a comic for that. It's not about Lot's kids' mom because that would be kinda wrong.

First Version:
R: If you don't play this right now, you will never ever play it again!!!
O: Only a siff deals in absowutes!
Second Version:
R: If you don't play this right now, you will never ever play it again!!!
L: Only a sith deals in absolutes!

Happy Star Wars Day

Happy Star Wars Day! "May the Fourth be with you"
Here are some comics from previous years, namely 2017 and 2022. I was experimenting with digital creation in 2017 - using the basic shapes and typing rather than just free-handing it all. Fun fact: my SW comics are a mix of Star Wars and Snow White ones - I should really name them differently to keep them distinct.

ReMarkable

A friend gave this idea to me. The joke only works if your husband's name is Mark. Also yep that's a Star Wars reference with the company name.

Text:
Billboard: Have you ever wanted to clone your husband? Well, now you can! KaminoTech Advanced
L: How reMarkable.
M: *understandably uncertain*

Star Wars Parentage

 please enable imagesplease enable images

I thought this one up after a message on families (specifically generational faith) - here's the original sketch! You can see how the comic changed slightly when I redrew it digitally.

Text:
Luke, holding head in sorrow: I can't believe that Darth Vader is my dad.
Leia: Forget him - you can join my family. I just found out that my birth parents were a queen and a Jedi!
Title: One realization later...
*both holding heads in sorrow*

Love and Star Wars

 enable images please

I often struggle to come up with comics for holidays, but this one came to me out of the blue, like a bolt of lightning (from the sky not the sith kind). How would the Jedi handle static electricity? Would the younglings shuffle their feet across the carpet then cackle evilly while zapping their friends? I feel like I should write to Mr. Lucas (not my brother but actually he might have a solid opinion on this) and see what his take is.

Text:
LS: Leia, she touched my hand and sparks flew 💗
LO: Luke, that means she's a sith! That's Force Lightning!

Grievous Mistake

enable images

When titling this one, I realized I misspelled the character's name as "Grevious" but I caught it before publishing but now you all know anyways. It's a hard word. The mistake in question was discovered when I was making waffle batter (WHOOPS I need to make more batter tonight so we have waffles in the morning) and I noticed that the buttermilk I had bought was low-fat instead of regular (I didn't even know they made low-fat buttermilk - it's milk with butter in it, there's lots of fat). BUT in the end it was ok because the waffles were rather tasty. I was worried they'd be too thin but they were not. Probably won't go looking for this in the future, but if it's the only option available I now know that it's viable.

Explanation: In Star Wars, there is a Sith character named General Grievous who is not actually a Sith but a follower of them due to his hatred of the Jedi. He has four arms and uses a lightsaber in each hand, making him a very difficult opponent to battle. The pun is that "a grievous mistake" is a really bad mistake, and there's a character named Grievous in Star Wars who uses four lightsabers.

Text:
L: I made a mistake.
M: How bad is it?
L: Four lightsabers.
M: ... what?!
L: It's a Grievous mistake.

The Last Jedi

If you want to be hip with the youths, just be like this guy. Don't let Master Luke rain on your parade.
I kinda want to misuse slang like this in front of Awana kids and just watch their expressions. Maybe throw in some random dance moves. Haha no. My little nephews were showing me some moves a few weeks ago and I don't remember what they were calling it but it involved swinging their arms around. They are cute little kids. I didn't get what was going on.

Also, it's less than a week til my birthday!!! Wooho!

Text:
A: "Your dank fleek is bae totes!"
Jedi Master Luke: "Amazing. Every word you said was wrong."

Totally Different Movies: Star Wars Episode II

I feel like the text didn't come through clearly on this one either. Or maybe I should wear my glasses when posting comics. Anyways, here's the dialog:
Anakin: Let's get married in secret.
Padme: Or you could quit the Jedi order?
Anakin: Ok!

Totally Different Movies: Star Wars Episode I

Anakin: I don't want to be a problem. Qui-Gon: I feel that bringing you to the Jedi will cause a problem, so I'll leave you here on Tatooine.
Sorry the text is a little crammed on this one. Here's what it says:
Anakin: I don't want to be a problem.
Qui-Gon: I feel that bringing you to the Jedi will cause a problem, so I'll leave you here on Tatooine.

Totally Different Movies: Empire Strikes Back

And now we start a series! Disclaimer that I have not seen all of these movies (I have seen this one) but they are all quotes I've heard.

What are the Odds

To show how long it occasionally takes me to write, upload, and post comics, this one was written before Episode VII.

Heavysabers

I'm trying out some new ideas so some comics will be more hand-drawn while others are more shapes.
