Shrimp Chicken Quack

 enable images please

He really does know his animals, he just sometimes fails under pressure. But really, what child actually *knows* what shrimp is?

Chicken Stick Time

show images!!!

Another one from our family vacation, this one courtesy of a conversation where I only heard part of the dialog. I know we were eating chicken tenders that night, so that could be the chicken stick in question, but I'm still not sure how it's a measure of time. I do enjoy hearing random parts of conversations that just sound so wild with no context. I had an example of one I overheard recently, possibly when I was in Target, but I don't recall what was said - just that it was weird and unexpected.

Al Dente Chicken

Waiter asking "How would you like your chicken cooked?" Patron replies, "Al dente?"

This one time, Mark and I were out for dinner and I ordered steak and he ordered chicken and the waiter asked me how I wanted my steak done so I told him, but then he asked Mark how he wanted his chicken done and Mark was not prepared to answer. I think he said 'all the way?' but I think at that point the waiter realized his mistake and probably cringed for the rest of the night. I don't even want to know what al dente chicken would be - apparently it means 'firm to the bite' which would probably mean very overcooked chicken, or possibly burnt? You don't want harden chicken.

Chicken Egg Bush Saying

Worth double in the hand

So many sayings about birds. The blended sayings are "Don't count your chickens before they hatch" and "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." But when it comes to chicken eggs, I hear some chickens like to hide them all over the place so you definitely want more in your hand than in a random bush.

Why is this comic so special? WELLLLLLL it's the cover image for True Story Volume IX! Yep, 2020 marks my ninth comic book. It'll be under trees this Christmas. I use Mixbook for my publishing and making books with them is fairly straight-forward and they have lots of deals in October and November, trying to beat the Christmas rush. If you're looking to make anything with photos, I recommend them!

A: You know that saying about chickens, eggs, and counting...
