Red Bean Black Tea Latte

 

True Story, I saw it on the menu and thought, "I have had red bean pastries and they were good, so surely the drink will be similarly good." I was not prepared to have actual beans in my drink. My husband thought it was bubbles, but no they were actual (soft) beans just not really floating but existing at the bottom of my beverage. I drank the whole thing but I won't be ordering it again.

Solid Choking Hazard

Unpopular opinion here: I don't like the bubbles in bubble tea (boba). I like getting drinks from bubble tea places and I say "no pearls" because the drinks are tasty and I don't want to chew my drink. Unless it's frozen fruit in the drink, because that's tasty. But I'm really particular about texture, and tapioca pearls do not make my mouth happy. 

I'm quite happy with how my bubble tea drink turned out in this comic. It took a few tries.

Fried Iced Tea

I don't recall what restaurant we were at but it was a recently opened one near us which had delicious Asian food and I don't recall which type specifically but there was rice so our daughter was happy. She really likes rice and noodles. And potatoes, and pasta, and bread, really all carbs. She's a fan. We work to sneak in vegetables. But the iced tea - I feel like fried iced tea is something you would find at a county fair and I would be super curious to try it. Usually the fried food we have once a year is deep fried Oreos and I know they are the epitome of like, obesity, but we split an order of them (5) once a year so I think we're in the clear. Oh man, this year Lucy will want to try them. Less for us :( or do we order more?? Probably not, we will just get 2 each instead of 2.5 since she will get 1. Yay August means Fall is coming and that means county fairs and Renaissance Festival and corn maizes and all things excellent.

Shrimp Cocktail

 

A friend told me about a misunderstanding she had about shrimp cocktail (she thought it was an alcoholic cocktail drink), and this comic was inspired. And I sincerely hope there is not a shrimp-based beverage out there because that just sounds disgusting and also right in line with those recipes from the 50's where everything was suspended in aspic and covered in mayo. They probably had a shellfish beverage. 

Congrats to my cousin who is getting married tomorrow! I hope the catering does not make a shrimp beverage.

Happy early Birthday to my Dad! I hope you don't get any shrimp beverages for your big day.
