Not a Train

 enable images please

My son received a cute wooden car carrier with three little cars and he loves playing with it but he makes it chug along because he likes trains and his sister is not cool with that misrepresentation.

R: That! is! not! a! train!!!

Sketchy Idea Trains

 enable images!

This is related to the previous comic, as it happened shortly after our conversation about clothing that's older than our marriage. So many trains of thoughts getting all crossed like wires. Don't cross your cable cars, that would be bad.

Text:
M: Let me sketch out my idea.
L: To replace your shirt?
M: No, I have a lot of trains going - this is about the flooring.

Train on Oregano

enable images!

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law and our nephew!
We've reached the end of the Christmas vacation comics! It was a wild ride to get back from CT because that was when Southwest had their issue and cancelled all their flights and they gave us a four-day delay in getting home and we said NOPE and took the train. The train is nice with having plenty of space for the toddler to move about (she loved walked up and down the aisles waving at everybody) but it was a little stressful to find seats next to each other since the carriages were rather full of people who had their SW flights cancelled. But people are kind! We had people move for us so we could have two seats together and that was super nice.

Explanation: Time and thyme sound the same. Thyme and oregano are both herbs.

M: Is the train running on time?
L: No, oregano!

Training Train

It has been quite a while since I've been on the Metro - some time before March 2020! We haven't been down to DC in a long time since most things were closed and then we now have a small child. It would be unfortunate to wear a long dress on public transit - it tends to be crowded (at least it was before all the 2020 craziness) and that does not bode well for a fancy train. Now I want to look up why the back of a dress is called a train... I have now learned a lot about types of dress trains but nothing on why it's called a train. Let me know if you know!

Alternate response could be "Your train didn't leave the station when your train left the station!"

Title: On the Metro
A: Oh no! The back of my dress!
B: Your train didn't leave the station, but you did!

Metro Baby

Happy Anniversary to my amazing husband! I'm not sure what we're doing this year, but it will likely be a day trip with our little one. Not sure if we will drive somewhere or take mass transit - unsure how Lucy will handle either (she hasn't been on a long car trip as of the time of writing - just local errands and locations like church or friends' houses). We might find something to do by looking at a local blog - Mid-Atlantic Day Trips. The author has a lot of great travel tips and locations, and we have found several nice local spots by looking there.

Text:
L: I wonder if Lucy will like riding the Metro.
M: If she doesn't, nobody else will!

Train of Thought Derailment

There were no survivors

This is what happens sometimes. Or a lot of times. Once the train hops off the tracks, there's no getting it back on. Might as well just move on to another topic. Also, I like cool socks - totally worth derailing a thought train over them. I got some socks for Christmas which have dinosaurs wearing Santa hats - I like them but it's no longer the season for them.

Text:
A: What we need to do is - oh, I like your socks!
B: Cool... Where is your previous train of thought?
A: Umm... Derailed? No survivors.

Choo Choo

This is great to do when someone (in your group or a random stranger - you choose) is walking rather slowly.

Train Garden

This is what I picture when I see signs for them. Alas, this is not what a train garden is.
